They made us proud!
Team ' Insure A Cure' was launched March 1 for the Relay for Life for Cancer Research. James Mizzi and Ryan Smith from MCT's Team Bedford are the founding members of the team. They threw down the challenge that if either of them reach $1000 in fundraising for this year’s event, they will both SHAVE THEIR HEADS!
And Yes! They did it. Overall their entire team raised $7500 for Cancer Research.
In addition, if the total of the two reached $2500, Team Bedford's Steve McCleave would shave off his mustache. He says it has been hanging around for close to 30 years so this is something we would love to see. And he did! Steve went under the blade during our annual general meeting in May at the Oak Island Inn.
Also Our President Mike Brien and RSA Group Regional VP Pat McNally took up the challenge up a notch with a friendly wager of their own: If Team MCT generates more donations for the Relay for Life than Team RSA, Pat McNally will shave his mustache/goatee. If RSA raises more, Mike Brien will shave his mustache. And again, Team Insure A Cure came through. Surpassing RSA Group's team by a few hundred dollars.
Together, both teams raised almost $15,000 for cancer research!
James and Ryan want to thank everyone who helped with this year's campaign!
James took part in memory of his father who died from prostate cancer at the age of 51, and Ryan took part in memory of his father who died from bowel cancer at age 37.
